Macbeth Arabia
In the first project of its kind in the Middle East and Arabian Peninsula, Macbeth Arabia, the Shakespearean Play “Macbeth”, adapted to the Arab World of Geography and Culture.
Bashar Atiyat, played the lead role of “Macbeth”, with Shakespearean Actor “Hugh Kennedy” along his side, playing “Macduff”
Aside from his role, Bashar Atiyat was hired by the Program of Performing Arts at The American University of Sharjah “AUS” as the Cultural Consultant, and as an Acting Coach, to help give the project its Arabian taste and feel, while helping the cast with their performing skills and reaching their characters’ goals
The project was the first Open-To-Public Shakespearean play in the region, and was a huge hit, that resulted in extending the play for several days. with 100% sold out seats.
The play was also impressive enough for the Sheikh of Sharjah, after attending the opening show, to announce his support to turn the program into a full Performing Arts Department at the university.
